Sousa Lopes Reserva 2018
Magnum Bottle 1.5L
The best hand craft White Wine (Vinho Verde) of Portugal. But what is a Vinho Verde?
Vinho Verde is not a grape variety, it is a DOC for the production of wine. The name means "green wine," but translates as "young wine", with wine being released three to six months after the grapes are harvested.
Sousa Lopes Reserva 2018 is a hand craft white wine (vinho verde) with total production of only 1,000 bottles per year to ensure each grape is individually selected by hand and its made with care and according to a centuries-old family tradition.
It has an orange blossom to join suggestions of alceps, ginger and spices, all still with a lot of youth.
Grapes: 50% old vines with traditional varieties and 50% Alvarinho.
Vinification: Manual Harvest in 50 liters boxes (aprox. 20kg). Pressing of destemmed grapes, whole berries, natural settling at 10ºC.
Fermentation with strict temperature control, on french oak barrels. Ageing in the same barrels with fine lees until blend formation. Light filtration and cold stabilization before bottling.
Colour: Straw with good intensity.
Aroma: Orange flower flirting with apricot, ginger and spice suggestions, all with a lot of youth.
Taste: Dry. Excellent presence of mouth, with creaminess and sophistication, and where the perfect acid balance is the dominant note.
Consume: Soft sheep’s cheese, shrimp curry, roasted fish. Should be served between 12 to 14ºC.
Viticultor: Gonçalo Sousa Lopes
Oenologists: Hugo Linton e Avelino Barros
